A personal page for designers
A design portfolio is judged in the first ten seconds by someone skimming on a phone. It should lead with two or three case studies, say what you did on each, and make it easy to start a conversation.
What your page should include
- Two or three case studies with the problem, your role, and the outcome in numbers
- One line on the kind of work you want next
- Tools and methods, briefly, under the work rather than above it
- Client or teammate quotes tied to a specific project
- A contact or booking button above the fold
Sections that work
Selected work → How I work → Experience → Kind words → Get in touch
Looks to start from
Studio or Paper: big type, quiet colour, the work does the talking. Ivo can restyle any of them to your colours.
Questions
Should a designer use Behance or a personal portfolio?
Both have a place. Behance and Dribbble help discovery; a personal page you control is what you send to a hiring manager, with your best three projects told properly.
How many projects should a design portfolio show?
Three strong case studies beat twelve thumbnails. Recruiters rarely open more than two.
