Link in bio for LinkedIn: where your link goes and who opens it
On LinkedIn the person clicking your link usually isn't a fan. It's a recruiter between calls, a client comparing three people, a founder checking you out before a meeting. That changes what the link is for and what should be behind it.

The four places a link works on LinkedIn
LinkedIn has no single "bio link". It has four places, and they get seen by different people:
- Profile website link. Set in Edit intro, shown right under your headline with a label you choose ("Case studies", "Book a call"). This is the closest thing to a bio link and the one most visitors see. Older guides tie it to Creator mode; LinkedIn folded that into regular profiles in 2024.
- Contact info. Up to three websites, behind a tap. Recruiters do open it, usually after deciding you're worth contacting.
- Featured. Cards near the top of your profile. A card for your page with a clear image works like a banner ad for you.
- Posts and comments. Links are clickable, but a link post is one moment in a feed; the profile link is permanent.
Who clicks, and what they need
A recruiter who clicks your LinkedIn link is checking something the profile can't show: the work itself. They want two or three projects with outcomes, proof that someone else vouches for you, and a fast way to reach you. A client wants to know whether you've solved their problem, what it roughly costs, and how to start.
Neither of them wants your latest Instagram post. A LinkedIn link should point to a page built for decisions: who you are in one line, your best work as short stories, testimonials with names, and one action (book a call, download my resume, request a quote). Our guide on a portfolio link that gets you hired goes deeper on the job-hunt version.
Label the link like a button
The profile website link takes a custom label. Use it. "Website" or a bare address tells nobody why to click; "Case studies", "Portfolio + resume" or "Book a 20-min intro" does. Keep it short so it doesn't wrap on a phone.
Your headline (220 characters, roughly the first 60 visible in search and comments) should make the click make sense. "Product manager · payments · ex-Razorpay" followed by a "Case studies" link is a complete pitch. The LinkedIn headline generator gives you options in your own words.
Use the same link everywhere a recruiter looks
Put the same page in your LinkedIn intro, your resume header, your email signature and your job applications. When search engines and AI assistants see one page consistently linked from your profiles, it becomes the page they show for your name. Getting found by recruiters explains why that matters now that people ask AI about candidates.
featurd can draft that page from your LinkedIn PDF export in about a minute: experience, projects and summary laid out as a personal site you then edit. Nothing posts to LinkedIn on your behalf.
Track what LinkedIn sends you
LinkedIn shows profile views, not what visitors did after clicking. Tag the link (featurd.me/you?utm_source=linkedin&utm_campaign=bio) and your page analytics can separate LinkedIn from everything else. featurd shows referrer, UTM source and campaign, device and country for each visit.
When you're job hunting, featurd's tracked links and application tracker go further: send a recruiter their own link and you'll see when it was opened, from which device and country, which tells you when a follow-up is timely. It never identifies the person; it tells you the link you sent them was opened.
What converts from LinkedIn
What we see working:
- Outcomes in numbers on the first screen ("+11% checkout conversion").
- A downloadable resume next to the projects, so a recruiter can forward you in one step.
- A booking button with a short, specific call ("20-min intro"), synced to your calendar so there's no back and forth.
- A calm, readable look over a flashy one. LinkedIn readers are scanning, not browsing.

Where do I add a website link on LinkedIn?
In Edit intro, under Website, with your own link label. It shows under your headline. You can also add up to three websites in Contact info and pin a link in Featured.
Does LinkedIn penalise posts with links?
LinkedIn doesn't publish a rule about it and results vary by post. Your profile link isn't affected either way: it's always visible on your profile.
What should I link from my LinkedIn profile?
A page that shows your work with outcomes, proof from others and one clear action like booking a call or downloading your resume. A list of social links doesn't help a recruiter decide.
Can featurd build a page from my LinkedIn?
Yes. Upload your LinkedIn profile PDF and Ivo drafts a page from it in about a minute. You edit everything before you publish.
