Link in bio for WhatsApp: your business profile, status and chats
WhatsApp isn't a feed where strangers find you. It's where customers who already know you ask questions, and where you share links one to one. That makes the link preview, not the bio, the thing that decides whether people tap.

Where links go on WhatsApp
WhatsApp has no single bio link, but there are four places links work:
- Business profile. WhatsApp Business lets you add two websites, a 512-character description and a 139-character About. Customers see them when they tap your name in a chat.
- Chats. Any link you send is clickable and shows a preview card. This is where most WhatsApp traffic comes from.
- Status. Links in status updates are clickable for 24 hours, seen by contacts who saved your number.
- Channels. If you run a WhatsApp Channel, links in updates reach followers who don't have your number.
The preview card is your bio
When you paste a link in a chat, WhatsApp builds a card from the page's Open Graph tags: title, description and image. A good card (your name, what you do, a clear image) gets tapped; a blank grey box looks like spam. Check yours with the social share preview checker before you send it to a hundred customers.
Every featurd page and product page makes its own preview card from your name, headline and photo, so links look right in WhatsApp without extra setup.
Link back to WhatsApp from your page
The other direction matters just as much. A wa.me link (wa.me/919876543210 with an optional pre-filled message) opens a chat with you in one tap. Put it on your page for customers who'd rather message than fill a form. The WhatsApp link generator builds one with a pre-filled message like "Hi, I'd like to book a trial class".
Many small businesses in India run entirely on this loop: Instagram or Google sends people to a page, the page sends them to WhatsApp, and the sale happens in chat. Your page's job is to answer the obvious questions first (prices, timings, location, what's included) so chats start further along.
What to put on the page you share
A customer who taps your link from WhatsApp usually wants one specific thing: the price list, the booking slot, the product. Make those the first cards. Then add proof (reviews from local customers, photos of real work) and your timings and location.
On featurd you can take bookings into your Google Calendar, collect enquiries with your own questions, and sell products. Free downloads work on every plan; paid products are on Pro through your own Razorpay or Stripe, with UPI for Indian buyers and 0% platform fee. On Pro you can also turn on live chat on the page with replies by email and push, for visitors who aren't ready to message your number.
Track what WhatsApp sends you
Links opened from WhatsApp often arrive with no referrer at all, so they look like "direct" visits. Tag the links you share (featurd.me/you?utm_source=whatsapp&utm_campaign=bio) and use utm_campaign to tell a status update from a broadcast or a Channel post.
featurd shows visits by UTM source and campaign, device and country. For one-to-one follow-ups, a tracked link tells you when the link you sent a specific customer was opened, so you know whether to nudge.
Mistakes to avoid with WhatsApp links
Common problems with links shared on WhatsApp:
- Long, ugly links with tracking codes visible in the chat. Shorter links with a clean preview card look trustworthy.
- Sending a PDF price list that customers can't search or tap. A page with prices and a book or buy button converts better.
- Business profile websites left empty or pointing to an old Facebook page.
- No way to reach you outside your working hours. A booking link or contact form catches enquiries while you sleep.
What converts from WhatsApp
What works for small businesses we see:
- A clear preview card: your name, what you sell, a real photo.
- Prices on the page, so the chat starts with "I'll take it" rather than "how much?".
- A wa.me button on the page with a pre-filled message.
- Status updates with a link for limited slots or new stock.

Make my page freeQuestions
Can I add a website link to my WhatsApp profile?
On WhatsApp Business, yes: up to two websites in your business profile. Personal accounts have an About line of 139 characters, where links show as text.
Why doesn't my link show a preview in WhatsApp?
WhatsApp builds the card from the page's Open Graph title, description and image. If the page has none, or the image is too large, you get a plain link. featurd pages include them automatically.
How do I make a link that opens a WhatsApp chat with me?
Use wa.me/ followed by your number with country code and no plus sign, optionally with ?text= and a message. Our WhatsApp link generator builds it for you.
Can customers pay through my link from WhatsApp?
Yes, if your page sells products. On featurd Pro, paid products go through your own Razorpay or Stripe, including UPI, with 0% platform fee.
