Link in bio for YouTube: channel links, descriptions and Shorts
YouTube gives you more places for links than any other platform, and viewers who stay longer. The challenge isn't room, it's focus: a description full of twenty links converts worse than one clear next step. Here's where each link works and what to point it at.

Where links work on YouTube
Four places, each with a different job:
- Channel header. In YouTube Studio โ Customisation โ Basic info โ Links, add up to 14. The first appears under your channel name as "featurd.me/you and 3 more links". Make the first one your hub page.
- Video descriptions. Up to 5,000 characters, links clickable. Only the first two or three lines show before "more", so the link belongs in line one or two.
- Pinned comment. One per video, visible to people who scroll to comments. Good for the specific product or booking the video mentions.
- Shorts. Links in Shorts descriptions and comments aren't clickable (YouTube removed that in 2023). You can attach a related video, and your channel header link stays one tap from the Short.
Use the first link slot for a hub, not a single product
Your channel header link is seen by new visitors deciding whether to subscribe and by fans looking for "that thing you mentioned". A hub page serves both: your latest video at the top, then products, booking, a free resource and your other platforms.
Per-video links should go deeper. If a video teaches pivot tables and mentions your template, the description's first line should go straight to that template, not to the hub. Specific links convert; general links get browsed.
Write the first two lines of every description
YouTube shows roughly two lines of description before "more" on most screens. Put the one action you want in those lines with a reason: "Get the free practice file: featurd.me/kabir/p/pivot-practice". Timestamps, gear lists and social links go below.
A product page on featurd has its own address (featurd.me/you/p/product), so you can link straight to it from a description. Free downloads work on every plan; paid products are on Pro and sell through your own Stripe or Razorpay with 0% platform fee.
Track which videos drive sales
Tag description links per video (featurd.me/you?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=bio&utm_content=pivot-tables) and your channel header link separately. YouTube Studio tells you how many people clicked a link only in limited cases; your page analytics fill the gap.
featurd reports visits by UTM source and campaign, referrer, device and country. Over a few weeks you'll see which topics send buyers versus browsers, which is the most useful input for what to make next. The UTM builder makes tagged links without typos.
What the page should look like for YouTube viewers
YouTube viewers already know your face and voice, often from ten or twenty minutes of video. Your page should feel like your channel: same photo, same colours, same tone. Broadcast puts big media cards first, made for episodes and videos; Aurora suits softer educational channels.
Then make the business side easy: sponsors need a contact form that isn't your comments, and learners need the course or template with its price. featurd's contact form lets you ask your own questions (budget, audience, dates) so sponsor enquiries arrive qualified.
Mistakes that waste YouTube traffic
A few habits quietly cost channels clicks and sales:
- A wall of affiliate and social links at the top of every description, pushing the one link that matters below the fold.
- The same generic hub link on every video, so viewers who wanted the specific template have to hunt for it.
- Channel header links that point to platforms you no longer post on.
- Telling Shorts viewers to "click the link below" when Shorts links aren't clickable. Say "link on my channel" instead.
- No separate route for sponsors, so brand emails get lost among fan comments and DMs.
What converts from YouTube
What we see working:
- One link in the first description line, matched to the video's topic.
- A free resource tied to the video, which builds an email list you own.
- Sponsor or client contact separated from fan links.
- A pinned comment that repeats the link for viewers who skip descriptions.

Make my page freeQuestions
How many links can I add to my YouTube channel?
Up to 14, in YouTube Studio โ Customisation โ Basic info. The first shows on your channel header; the rest appear behind "and N more links".
Can I put clickable links in YouTube Shorts?
No. YouTube stopped making links in Shorts descriptions and comments clickable in 2023. Link a related video, and keep your channel header link pointed at your hub page.
Where should the link go in a video description?
In the first one or two lines, before the "more" cut-off, with a reason to click. Put timestamps and social links below.
Can I sell from my YouTube channel without a website?
Yes. A featurd page can hold your products, bookings and a sponsor form at featurd.me/you, with each product at its own link for descriptions.
